Nintendo going after Korean pirates

nintendologoArrrr, it’s the nasty type of pirates, unfortunately. Today, Nintendo asked South Korean prosecutors to investigate piracy websites and their illegal distribution of Nintendo’s games. The suit will be conducted through the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office in Seoul.

A Nintendo spokesperson said, "They infringed on our copyright by posting Nintendo’s game titles through the Internet without permission. The legal action was taken against only some sites and users this time but we will take further measures if such a violation continues to take place."

Most of the illegal distribution has been connected with the Nintendo DS, which launched in South Korea just this past year.

Since the handheld is massively successful in just about every country in the world and still relatively new, DS games piracy skyrocketed, which prompted Nintendo to pursue legal action. Hopefully it proves to be a success.
