In this week’s issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, an interview with the producer of the next Zelda title, Eiji Aonuma, reveals that the yet unnamed next installment in the Zelda series will only be playable with the Wii Motion Plus, making it exclusive to the controller add-on.
Shigeru Miyamoto alluded to the fact that the game would use the Motion Plus last year, but did not say anything regarding exclusivity. Of course, industry analysts have chalked up this new development to a ploy by Nintendo to lend a heavy boost to Motion Plus sales, which has only seen real success so far with titles like Wii Sports Resort and, marginally, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2009.
While this may upset some Wii owners who have yet to purchase the Motion Plus, Aonuma says, "After actually making it compatible, it just feels so natural. Link’s sword and the controller that you’re holding become one."
We can expect to see the official unveiling of this title at E3 this year, but the release date is just unofficially slated for late 2010.
