So what was the last good Leisure Suit Larry game you’ve played? I know plenty of people groaned at 2004’s Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude, but never fear, a new game is on the way! We’ve hinted at this back in November too.
Over on IGN, Sierra revealed Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust, the next title in the LSL series. The game will have a new developer, Worms developer Team 17, and will bring the series back to its roots: hilarity back into an adventure game. Executive Producer John Melchior gave his comments on why the last LSL game was a bomb.
"The last game was torn apart and I think it was just the wrong approach for this franchise. Most of the criticisms of the game were not off base. This game is a total departure from the last game. I think it’s safe to say that for the first time Larry is actually a game with tried and true mechanics and a vision that it catered towards today’s gamers."
The only "classic character" returning will be Uncle Larry. Sierra and Team 17 are really pushing for humor and have hired Hollywood writer Allen Covert, who wrote The Benchwarmers, Grandma’s Boy and Eight Crazy Nights. Lastly, unfortunately, series creator Al Lowe will not be involved with the project.
Expected platforms are Xbox 360, PS3 and PC while a fall 2008 release date is currently penciled in.
