Ubisoft announced today that the highly stylized Prince of Persia for the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 has gone gold, and will be shipping to North American retailers on December 2nd, 2008.
Pre-ordering the game will entitle gamers to a free limited edition upgrade, which includes the folowing items:
• Collectable Limited Edition packaging
• An exclusive look at the making of Prince of Persia
• A Prima® digital mini-strategy guide full of developer's secrets to help players master the year's best action-adventure game
• A digital art book that chronicles the game's journey from concept to winner of Best Artistic Design at E3 2008
• The original soundtrack scored by master composer Inon Zur
With the Sands of Time trilogy completed, the Prince will no longer have his signature rewind ability at his disposal this time around, but will instead pair with companion Elika as they are caught in the midst of a war between the forces of light and darkness. Their task is to restore the corrupted land in an open-world adaptation of the Assassin's Creed engine.
From what we've seen thus far, Prince of Persia looks like it will be an impressive title, to say the least. Just under two weeks until we find out.

Yay for PoP!
Why would they remove the most awesome part of the series? I still don't understand it. Now it's just a pretty looking generi-platform-action game.
Why is it written in the title that they will release the game on the twelfth of february?
Wacky American way of writing the date.
We write month first, day of the month second, year last. You guys write it day of the month first, month second... :p
And the reason they removed the sands of time thing is that this is a totally different Prince, set in a totally different time and place. His side kick with the magic powers there will help in real time to reach and do things he couldn't on his own, instead of rewinding time and trying things over again. She will also help him in the one-on-one battles by assisting him in performing crazy moves.
