According to a new study by Experian Consumer Research, Sony's PlayStation 3 seems to have captured the eldest end of the gaming market, apparently being the most popular videogame console among customers 45 and up. The Xbox 360 leads in the 35-44 year-old range, and the Wii has claimed the youngest demographic in the study, gamers between 18 and 24. For the 24-34 year-old crowd, all three consoles are relatively equal.
Among other things, the study examined Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners' leisure activities outside of gaming. While 360 owners were shown to be far more likely than PS3 owners to read gaming magazines and equally as likely to play board games or read books, PS3 owners spend more time attending antique shows and doing needlework.
This is all compelling data, but one must also consider that the study examined those who "play or own" the consoles, which includes individuals who use the PS3 primarily as a Blu-Ray movie player. With the high costs of those devices, more non-gamers are likely to have opted for a PS3 than any other console. Either that, or Snake's old and grey appearance in Metal Gear Solid 4 was a little more strategic than we all initially thought.

What a weird study. I'd be more interested in what system party people vs. straight edge play, and which system educated people vs. burger flippers play. As a 32 year old, partying, (somewhat) successful person, whom is also a sports fan who loves all things science and is an anarchist and atheist to boot, where do I fit in your little survey?
"PS3 owners spend more time attending antique shows and doing needlework."
And I don't buy that. Where was this survey done? A retirement home?
uhhh
ps3 costed a lot more on launch

...duh duh duh
wow with age comes wisdom. people of more older age group are really smart. but I really think it is just a personal choice. most people I know that old thinks this is a waist of time. so if you hate this. go start your own pole. se how that works for you.
Blu ray is really a good selling point huh.
the people really like high def movies.
I am in the 24-34 group and yes I prefer the Playstation 3 to the other to current-Generation systems.
