I was editing my forum signature today, putting that good old "now playing" list back in there, when I got to thinking that I'm in the middle of a TON of games right now. There are so many, in fact, that it's hard for me to determine which of them even deserve to carry the title of "now playing".
Which brings me to the day's question:
How many games do you play at a time?
By this, I don't mean acting as a one man circus of virtual reality and playing multiple games on multiple screens simulatneously. What I mean is how many games, on average, do you find yourself in the middle of, making active progress? For me it's usually no more than three, but lately it's been closer to twice that number. Honestly, though, I prefer to focus on a single game, finish it to my satisfaction, and then move on to the next. How about you?

Rarely more than two. Right now for me it's my excessively modded version of Oblivion, and my fourth or so playthrough of Crysis.
Usually anywhere from one to three. But the extra two are usually "on the side" type things like Harvest Moon that don't require a huge commitment and won't interfere with the one I'm "really" playing.
At least 2... although I tend to play several on the side...
anywhere from 2 to 6 i'd say... with some sports game and some halo game being the only constants...
2, no more than 3 if that ever happens
Used to be alot when I was young, 6-10 games at a time and rarely finish them. Now I don't play a game beyond my usual WoW, TF2, CoD 4 unless I intend to play it start-to-finish.
On any given day I'll jump between CSS, DoDS, GTA IV, Track Mania, FreeSpace 2, Halo 3 and Burnout. There will normally be a smattering of different Steam games as well.
I stick to one single player game at a time. Start it, play nothing else (except the occasional multiplayer/spots game) until it's done, and then move on to the next one.
I usually try to play one main game (ex. like a single long RPG or single player campaign) with some other games that I can pick up and play for an hour or two (multiplayer, random matches against AI) just to change things up.
2 at max. I always am playing BF2142, and then whatever else at the time.
Lessee... Right now, I'm juggling Tales of Phantasia, Children of Mana, Pokémon Pearl, Phoenix Wright: T&T, skate., Mass Effect (again), Castlevania: SotN, and Halo 3. Perhaps more, I'm not good at keeping track of them all.
Depends. Usually 1, but if something like ninja gaiden 2 and metal gear come out within 2 weeks of one and other........
It really depends what mood your in, or if you're just failing badly.
Was playing Tomb Raider: Anniversary over the weekend and am in Eygpt (Obelisk of Khamoon) and I'm stuck on a jumping puzzle where you have to wall run past spinning blades. I barely manage to get one jump from the finish before I get sliced, which causes very little damage for some reason, but throws you off the wall into certain death. So in times like this I'll hop between games like 5, but usually if I don't fail, just one.
