Rockstar admits GTA IV delays due to PS3 issues

gta 4 carsRockstar Games has already pushed back the launch date for Grand Theft Auto IV from last October to April 2008. While folks can be happy for the confirmed April 29th release date, some are wondering what caused the initial delay in the first place.

The delays were blamed on "technological problems," according to Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick. At the time, there was no elaboration on what this meant but most observers guessed that it was due to programming issues related to the PS3.

Rockstar Games is now admitting to the fact that the PlayStation 3 was indeed one of the reasons why GTA IV was delayed. Jeronimo Barrera of Rockstar said, "It's really no surprise to anybody that the PS3 was definitely a contributing factor to that. Back then that was something we were taking into account. That's not to say there's anything wrong with the PS3 version. It's awesome. They're both [PS3 and Xbox 360] identical."

It now seems that the problems have been hammered out as Barrera said that the issues were "not an issue anymore." RockStar is planning for an international release date of April 29 for the 360 and PS3.

But don't rush it out Rockstar. I think most of us would rather have a game that is ready for release and is a little late rather than a rushed game that still needs to be worked on.
