Just in time for the holiday season, Epic Games VP Mark Rein has announced that the Playstation 3 version of Unreal Tournament 3 has gone gold.
In a post, which can be found on the official Epic Games' Forums, he says, "The PlayStation 3 version of Unreal Tournament 3 has gone gold! We got news last night that Unreal Tournament 3 has been approved by SCEA and has been released to North American manufacturing."
He goes on to say, "Midway has started talking to retailers to figure out exact timing and they will have a formal announcement early next week when everyone is back from the Thanksgiving holiday. My guess is that Midway will start shipping the title to North American retailers on Monday December 10th and it could show up in stores as early as December 11th but more likely toward the middle of that week."
Unfortunately this is for North American gamers only; UK and European gamers have to wait until some time in Q1 2008 because of "a few localization-related tasks," needing to be completed before they can "start the certification process."
If everything goes smoothly, both PC and PS3 gamers will be able to enjoy Epic's latest title in the UT series before the New Year. Now, about that 360 version...
Unreal Tournament 3 is already out on PC in Germany (albeit with certain content removed) and North America, and is set for release on Nov 23rd in Europe and Nov 30th in Australia/New Zealand.
