According to vgchartz.com, Madden NFL 2008, the perennial blockbuster, has once again proved that no matter what happens they will always reign victorious over the competition.
The newest Madden title sold 1.8 million copies in it's first week at retail. That's not just fast, in the words of John Candy in Cool Runnings, "I don't care who you are, that's lightning!"
To put this in perspective a little bit, when Halo 2 launched in 2004, it sold about 2.6 millions units in it's opening week. Madden doesn't quite hit Halo 2 numbers, but consider the fact that Madden comes out every single year, whereas Halo is released approximately every 3 years.
I'll never understand it, but every single year there are millions of shlubs lined up at midnight to blow $60 dollars on incremental improvements. The Madden football community should rally and boycott the series for a year. Everything EA does with that game every year could be added via a simple patch that could cost less than $10.
It doesn't have to be this way...EA doesn't have to keep taking all of your money every year.

Madden sales numbers always make me a little sad.
...or maybe just disappointed.
Good luck with the boycott. getting the general public to understand common sense is a fight that will rarely be won.
Thanx for the support Max. It's gonna take courage I'm sure of that...not to mention the gumption...my god the gumption.
