Newly Revealed PC Sequels and Expansions: 3/25 to 3/31

This week had the announcements of two very big additions to popular RTS franchises. First is an expansion pack to Civilization IV, titled Beyond the Sword, and the second is an expansion pack to Medieval II: Total War, titled Kingdoms.

Firaxis and 2K Games announced the second expansion pack to Civilization IV. Entitled Beyond the Sword, the expansion will feature 12 new scenarios, 10 new civilizations (Portugal, Babylonians, Netherlands and their respective new units and buildings), 16 new leaders (Hammurabi of the Babylonians, Abraham Lincoln of the US, and Sitting Bull of the Native Americans), 5 new wonders (Statue of Zeus, Cristo Redentor, Moai Statues), new gameplay features (corporations that allows players to found and spread companies, espionage), new random events, enhanced AI, plenty of new units, and more. The expansion will be available in July.

For you RTS expansion pack fanatics, get ready for Medieval II: Total War – Kingdoms. SEGA and Creative Assembly will fill the pack with four new campaigns that’ll clock in with 75 hours of gameplay, 13 new factions, over 150 new units, 6 new multiplayer scenarios, and 20 new Custom Battle maps. The pack is expected to be out in fall 2007.
