We got a few new PC game announcements this week, including Operation Flashpoint 2 and some goodies Gas Powered Games is cooking up so here you go. Gas Powered Games posted listings for a bunch of new jobs this week, including some information about their upcoming projects. There will be a new Supreme Commander game, a new PC game and a console project — "sure to surprise GPG’s ‘Game of the Year’ role-playing and RTS gamers."
Next up is the announcement of Operation Flashpoint 2 from Codemasters for 2008. The game will be heading to PC and unspecified consoles and will use Codemasters’ internal middleware technology, Neon. More information will be coming this summer.
Codemasters is also planning an action/RPG game called Rise of the Argonauts with Liquid Entertainment. The game will be out in 2008 for unspecified consoles and PC. The game will take place in Greece and players will control a team of warriors. Liquid Entertainment previously developed a few RTS titles, including The Lord of the Rings: War of the Ring in 2003 and Dungeons & Dragons: Dragonshard in 2005.
Last on the list for Codemasters is a racing sequel titled Race Driver One. Developed internally by Codemasters, the game will be out in 2008 for unspecified consoles and PC. Players will be racing tracks across Europe, U.S., and Japan.
Marvel has extended its partnership with Sega, revealing plans for new superhero games in the process. Included was the already-revealed Iron Man game, in addition to games based on Captain America, The Incredible Hulk (based on the upcoming Hulk movie with Ed Norton), and Thor.
Lastly, Obscure II has been revealed, which is in the works at Playlogic. The sequel will follow the 2004 game and will be available for PC and PS2 in Q3 of 2007 and for the Wii in Q4 2007. The game will follow two years after the first game, in which the survivors went on with their lives and something evil stirs up again. The game will feature an AI-controlled sidekick, which a pal can jump in for co-op, out of a planned 6 total characters.
