While it has been hinted for a while, the interest that supplied the Wolfenstein series seemed to have dried up — that is, until today. Over on Yahoo! , it spilled the beans that id Software teammate, Raven Software, is currently working on a new game in the franchise.
The game will also debut a brand-new motion-capture technology, in which actress, Carrie Coon, will not only lend her face to the game but also her acting skills in the planned upcoming movie. In the game, Coon will be playing an elite force assassin. The Wolfenstein franchise featured females in its last game, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, courtesy of the Helga’s personal Elite Guard.
The new motion-capturing tech has been used in Raven’s last game, Marvel Ultimate Alliance. David Peng, Art Services Coordinator for Raven, said, "Animation used to be a couple hundred motions for an entire game; now it’s a couple hundred motions per character. This has really helped us as far as just churning out massive amounts of data."
The game is expected sometime in 2008. No other information was available on the Wolfenstein game at the time of this writing.
