Nintendo has officially announced that beginning May 9th, all new Wii consoles will come packaged with Wii Sports Resort and one Wii MotionPlus accessory in addition to the Wii remote, nunchuk, and Wii Sports game. The products will be available in either black (previously unavailable in North America) or white, and will cost $199.99.
Said Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime, "Nintendo leads the way in delivering rich motion-control gaming experiences at an accessible price point. By including even more of our top-quality hardware and software in the basic Wii system package, we’re extending that commitment to entertainment and value. Now more than ever, consumers can count on Nintendo to deliver inclusive fun and advanced motion controls at a mass-market price."
This announcement confirms all but the projected date of earlier rumors about the black Wii bundle, which suggested that GameStop stores would be selling the systems as early as May 4th. Either way, the black Wii is finally here for North American customers, and all new Wii owners will soon be getting more value and functionality with their console purchases.
