During his GDC keynote speech today, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata announced that a brand new Super Mario game would be coming to the Nintendo 3DS.
The company has stated that the game will have traditional Mario gameplay and will be made by the developers of both Super Mario Galaxy titles. A few screenshots, which can be found at the bottom of the story, were shown during Iwata’s keynote that displayed what appears to be vintage-style Mario levels that have been expanded into 3D.
This announcement came in addition to that of Nintendo’s 3DS partnership with Netflix, which will stream movies and other content on the device, and the platform’s ability to connect to the Internet at over 10,000 AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spots.
The Nintendo 3DS is already out in Japan and will see its release in North America on March 27 and in Europe two days earlier on March 25.
