We don’t have to wait too much longer for Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. October 5th is the official release date, so only about a week, but details are still trickling out about the game.
The latest developer diary reveals in more detail, some facts we already knew about the game. We learn how the two lead characters initially crossed paths, and we learn how Trip, the female charcter, has convinced Monkey, the male character that the player controls, to serve as her bodyguard.
The trailer shows off what is assumed to be elements of the opening sequence of the game. I wouldn’t recomend against watching if you want to remain completely spoiler free.
The Diary also reveals that at one time, Andy Serkis was in line to direct the game. Serkis is best known for providing the performance for Gollum in the Lord of the Rings films. He is known as an actor first and foremost, and it is suprising to learn that he was considering leading the charge in the development of Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. The attraction of getting to play the charatcer of Monkey is apparently what changed his mind.
Serkis shows off how good he is at blending into a black background.
Enslaved will be available for both the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360.
