I’m sure we’ve all experienced the wonders of Netflix, filling queues up full of movies we’ve totally forgotten about–but it got me through college. But Netflix is thinking about expanding their network via another means besides snail mail.
During its Q3 2007 call to analysts, Netflix said they would consider delivering movies through internet-connected HD-DVD and Blu-ray machines, namely the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
This would definitely add convenience, as you wouldn’t even have to mail out the DVD’s anymore, (not that Netflix was in any way inconvenient before) they would just land right in your living room.
Good idea, but will Sony or Microsoft really let that happen under their nose? Why sign Netflix when they can offer that service and steal the customer base from them? I just don’t see this ending peacefully.
