Just a week-and-a-half ago, NCSoft announced that it would be hosting a press briefing at Gamescom next month that would featured a world exclusive reveal. Today, the publisher has confirmed that the reveal will be a brand new game from NCSoft-owned developer Carbine Studios.
The title will be a brand new MMO and original IP that has been in development for the past four years. NCSoft says that the official unveiling of the game at Gamescom "promises to be different from the standard game project announcement."
American gamers will get their chance to see this new project next month as it will also be on hand at PAX Prime in Seattle.
The announcement has been confirmed by Carbine Studios Executive Producer Jeremy Gaffney, who started in the industry as the CEO of Turbine Enterainment and has worked on titles such as Asheron’s Call and City of Heroes/Villains.
"Our entire team has been making a game we enjoy ourselves – and we’re pretty excited to tell you about it as well," said Gaffney on the Carbine Studios blog.
No other details about the game have been given. Though this may dispell rumors of a Guild Wars 2-related announcement to be made at Gamescom, NCSoft has said they plan to "steal a few headlines" during the show, which could mean the publisher still has some more surprises up its sleeves.
Gamescom will take place in Cologne, Germany from August 17-21.
