Activision, in partnership with Pontiac and Hot Topic, are launching the first ever Guitar Hero III National Tournament. That’s right, if you’re over 16 you can take your living room duels to a national level and prove how good (or bad) you are to the world.
The grand prize is a 2008 Pontiac G5, and a whole lot of bragging rights. The tournament will span over a month–tour style, taking place at Hot Topic stores in the following locations:
Orland Park, IL- Orland Square Mall (November 8)
Paramus, NJ- Garden State Plaza Mall (November 12)
Buford, GA- Mall of Georgia (November 15)
Austin, TX- Barton Creek Mall (November 19)
Phoenix, AZ- Metro Center Mall (November 26)
Las Vegas, NV- Meadows Mall (November 29)
Northridge, CA- Northridge Fashion Center (December 3)
San Francisco, CA- San Francisco Center (December 5)
Each of these locations are part of the qualifying rounds, and will take place between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM. The top 8 scores of the round will proceed to the semi-final rounds.
If you beat out your neighborhood, you’ll receive a $100 gift card to Hot Topic and submit your highscore on an undisclosed song to determine the two national finalists. The top two will win a free trip for two to Los Angeles to face off in front of the developers of Guitar Hero III.
Compared to the prizes the Madden Challenge hands out, it looks like peanuts, but we know you’re not in it for the money. You’re in it for the love of the game. Go out and pre-register and your location now. Spots are limited.
