In a press release today, NeatherRealm Studios’ representatives have confirmed that the soon to be released Mortal Kombat will include an online "King of the Hill" mode.
The new mode will feature a social element that will see players compete in in a tournament style "winner-stays-on" setting.
The King of the Hill feature adds to the game’s already impressive stockpile of new content, including four player tag-team, a 300 level challenge tower and more fatalities than can easily be counted.
Set for release later this month, the game is set to take place during the original Mortal Kombat. Like The Terminator, the story will see the game’s cast travel back in time to alter the past and thus save the future.
With the project being led by the franchise’s creator Ed Boon, the game has already garnered a significant amount of media and fan attention, with fans hoping to finally see a decent Mortal Kombat on the current generation of consoles.
