BioWare has dished out some more information surrounding Mass Effect 3‘s four-player co-op multiplayer missions, including playable races and its affiliation with EA’s Online Pass.
Since players won’t be able to take on the role of Commander Shepard and his crew in the multiplayer, they’ll instead be allowed to choose their own character from a list of classes and races. Those races playable for the mode will be Human, Krogan, Asari, Drell, Salarian, and Turian.
However, anyone who wants to experience the four-player co-op will have to either buy Mass Effect 3 new or pay extra. The game’s Galaxy at War system, which includes the multiplayer, will require a Mass Effect 3 Online Pass that can be acquired by entering a code found in any new copy of the game or purchased online via Xbox LIVE or the PlayStation Network.

Mass Effect 3 will release on March 6, 2012 for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
