Microsoft wants Xbox 360 to be less expensive

moneyRobbie Bach, president of Entertainment and Devices at Microsoft, sees a future where the Xbox 360 is heading for another price cut. When? That’s the big question, but if Bach’s vision for the 360 comes true, it looks as though we maybe seeing another price reduction, hopefully, soon.

Bach spoke during his presentation of the new timer tool for the 360 and also mentioned his want for a cheaper Xbox 360. "Another thing Microsoft needs to do is find more ways to make the console cheaper to produce. That’s something we need to do over the life cycle to continue to make the business work, so over time [we’ll] bring down prices."

During his speech, he also announced Microsoft’s commitment to parents in making gaming a safer activity for kids by use of the new Xbox 360 timer.

"As a leader in interactive entertainment, it’s Microsoft’s responsibility to provide parents with tools they can use to manage their children’s video gaming and online experiences, and we have made that a priority from the very start.

"Professionally, I am proud of my division’s work in this area, and personally, as a parent of three school-aged children, I know how important it is to be engaged in an ongoing dialogue with my family in order to uphold our household screen time rules."

The timer allows parents to configure the Xbox 360 in order to restrict daily or weekly play time and will be available for download next month on Xbox Live.

Ironically enough, it would seem most parents wouldn’t even know how to download this program, so for the time being, many gamers will be safe from the effects of this device.
