Microsoft Vows to Increase Japanese 360 Library

By John Duong, GN Writer

The folks at Microsoft, as part of their new aggressive marketing campaign, have announced that they are planning to have approximately 110 Xbox 360 titles available for purchase this holiday season, with 50 to be sold exclusively in Japan. Among those that will be released later this year are the highly anticipated Blue Dragon, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, and Trusty Bell. Reps for the Big M hope that the upswing in Japanese-developed titles will successfully attract both new consumers and developers. Whether or not this will allow for Microsoft to start fresh remains to be seen, but their handling of the situation thus far indicates that they’re taking a large, aggressive steps in the right direction.

"The key to winning the hearts and minds of the Japanese market is great games, and this great lineup demonstrates that Xbox 360 has those games in spades," said Microsoft VP Peter Moore. "Our lineup of role-playing games from the acknowledged masters of the genre is proof positive that there has never been a better time for Japanese gamers to jump in and pick up an Xbox 360 system."
