Microsoft is recalling any problematic Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheels due to a small number of incidents where the wheels malfunctioned and caused the product to overheat and smoke. Now that’s what I call a real burnout!
Folks who send their defective wheel back will get it replaced for free.
Apparently the malfunction is caused by the AC/DC power supply. There haven’t been any incidences of fire or personal injury, so it looks like the problem is just a relatively small one. In the meantime, Microsoft advises that till wheel owners get their retrofit, they should operate the wheel by battery.
This certainly can’t look good in Microsoft’s favor, especially with the ongoing problems with troublesome Xbox 360s. Better hang onto those warranties.
