As of late, Microsoft has been working hard to change the way consumers look at its customer support, and to take care of all of the problems that its hardware has been plagued with.
The most recent step taken is to enhance the warranty service for the Xbox 360. Now, all repairs to consoles in and out of warranty are eligible for free shipping. (Out of warranty repairs still incur repair charges, of course.) Microsoft will send a pre-paid box in which to package the broken 360, which can then be sent to the repair center at no cost to the customer. Additionally, repaired consoles come with a 90-day warranty extension, in-warranty, or a fresh year of service for consoles no longer under warranty.
You may recall from December the last upgrade to the Xbox 360 warranty service, where its period was extended from 90 days to one year. It’s good to see Microsoft taking some more responsibility for its hardware, especially with the rampant reports of system failures.
