According to the UK’s Official PlayStation Magazine, rumors have begun to circulate that the first three Metal Gear Solid games could be getting packaged together and upgraded to HD.
This certainly wouldn’t be a surprise considering the success of the God of War: Collection, the Sly Cooper Collection, and the can’t-get-here-soon-enough Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection.
To counter the rumor mill, Ryan Payton, a former member of Kojima Productions, said on twitter recently, "I don’t have any insider info, but I think the MGS trilogy HD release rumor is bogus. Doesn’t make sense with Snake Eater 3DS coming…"
Regardless of his former affiliation with Kojima Productions and the Metal Gear Solid series, Payton simply makes a good point. At the same time though, Team Ico made the argument that it was too busy with The Last Guardian to work on an HD re-releases of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, and in March of this year we’ll have tangible proof of the existence of that title when it releases.
