For you Lost Planet fans, new details regarding Capcom’s upcoming Lost Planet: Colonies were revealed today, courtesy of the latest issue of Famitsu. Originally envisioned as an expansion pack, Colonies appears to be now a full-fledged stand-alone game.
According to Famitsu, the enhanced re-release shooter will be heading to Xbox 360 and PC and will include new weapons, a new character, new monsters, cross-platform multiplayer, new multiplayer maps and new multiplayer modes. One confirmed new multiplayer mode is being able to battle as the insect Akrid.
As of now, the game only has been confirmed for release in Japan sometime in May though the ESRB has rated the game in North America. The PS3 version of Lost Planet was released last month, so I would imagine Capcom has intentions for a PS3 release for Lost Planet: Colonies too.
From a gamers’ point of view and being an owner of Lost Planet already, I hope Capcom releases this new content as DLC in the future. While enjoying Lost Planet on PC, I probably wouldn’t re-buy the game.
