Light Vs. Dark in first Skyrim: Dawnguard trailer

If you’ve slain every dragon, plundered every cave, and maxed out every skill in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim then Bethesda have further adventures already lined up for you.

We’ve known the name of Skyrim‘s first expansion for some time now, but today’s trailer is the first time we’ve had any light shed on what Dawnguard is all about, and it looks like it’s about vampires, and the titular Dawnguard who oppose them.

“What is it you seek? Is it to be one of us? To make the darkness your own? To feast on the souls of the living?” asks the ominous narrator. “Or are you with them: The Dawnguard?”

If the presence of vampires wasn’t enough, the trailer also shows off new areas, new monsters and the introduction of crossbows, presumably complete with silver-tipped bolts.

Dawnguard will be exclusive to Xbox Live gold members for 30 days before it becomes available for purchase by other  platform owners. Bethesda’s Todd Howard has called Dawnguard more akin to traditional expansion packs, and the expansions 1600 Microsoft point price indicates that we’re in for a healthy helping of new content.

Perhaps we get to pick whether we fight for or against the Dawnguard in the upcoming expansion. Either way we’ll find out more when Bethesda show off more Dawnguard at E3 next week. Keep tuned, because GamerNode will be bringing you all the news fresh off the show floor!
