The annual Games Convention that has been held in Leipzig, Germany for years is officially moving cross-country to Koln (or Cologne, for us non-natives). Beginning in 2009, the beer convention will take place in the western German city under the cleverly revised name, Games Con.
Köln is Germany’s fourth largest city, following Berlin, Hamburg and Munich. It’s population is nearly twice that of Leipzig, and it is in much closer proximity to the rest of Europe, which means that this move will likely make for a bigger show, attracting more attendees and more exhibitors.
The show’s extreme name-change is a result of the old Games Convention team refusing to give up the rights to that label.
