Konami had much to show the gaming press at their pre-TGS press event yesterday. Besides all the Metal Gear Solid 4 fanfare (which GamerNode will be presenting to you a bit later on, in video form) there was a distinct focus on health and fitness at the conference.
No fewer than FIVE titles, not surprisingly on Nintendo’s Wii and DS systems, were in some way tied to this theme. Additionally, Konami president Fumiaki Tanaka explicitly stated that one of the company’s keywords for this show would be…you guessed it…"health."
The five health-conscious titles in question are as follows:
Pilates (DS)
Yoga (DS)
Skin Basic (DS)
Wii Fitness (Wii)
Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party (Wii)
DDR has expanded into the full-body arena, and the producer made mention of "improvement in caloric calculations" for the Wii version. Konami even plans to incorporate some of their titles into health clubs, offering club-to-home data transfer and spawning a new Wiimote-with-leotard fashion trend.
Other titles shown at Konami’s conference (you know, the ones that matter) include:
Time Hollow (DS)
Silent Hill Origins (PSP)
Silent Hill V (360, PS3)
Metal Gear Solid Mobile (Mob)
World Soccer Winning Eleven Mobile 2 (Mob)
Silent Hill The Escape (Mob)
World Soccer Winning Eleven Wii (Wii)
Winning Eleven 2008 (360, PS3)
MLB Power Pros (Wii, PS2)
Powerpuro-Kun Pocket 10 (DS)
Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3)
Metal Gear Online (PS3)
Metal Gear Solid 2 Bande Dessinee (PSP)
Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops + (PSP)
