As we dive further into the new generation of home consoles, manufacturers are steadily ceasing support for older consoles.
The latest company to do so is SNK, who has announced that as of August 31st, it will no longer offer maintenance and repair service for the aging Neo Geo hardware and accessories.
The reason cited by SNK for this decision is that parts for the console are becoming far too difficult to acquire.
To go along with the hardware, support for the game cartridges, the Neo Geo CD, the Neo Geo CDZ, and the Neo Geo Pocket will also be dropped.
Maybe it’s about time the Neo Geo hits Nintendo’s Virtual Console. Could this announcement be the next step toward that scenario becoming a reality?
