The release of the 3DS title Kid Icarus: Uprising is just a month away, and now a Nintendo press release has revealed more details regarding the game’s multiplayer modes.
Light vs. Dark mode acts as the game’s version of team deathmatch, albeit with a slight twist. Two teams of three face off against each other, but the last defeated team member is turned into an angel. At that point the goal shifts to defeating the opposing team’s angel in order to win the match.
Also included is a standard free-for-all mode for up to six people. All multiplayer matches can be played locally or online, and CPU players will be added if that six-player max is not reached.
Weapons obtained in the game’s single-player mode can be used during multiplayer matches, and a fusion system is also included to help create even more powerful items. The Nintendo 3DS’s StreetPass functionality will then allow players to share those weapons with other Kid Icarus owners.
Nintendo isn’t known for games with strong competitive multiplayer offerings, but it should be interesting to see if Kid Icarus: Uprising can help shift that view when it comes out on March 23.
