At his presentation today to open up THQ’s Gamer Event, head of Core Games Danny Bilson announced that Assassins’ Creed series former creative director Patrice Desilets will be bringing more members of his Ubisoft team with him to his new home.
Listing them as "key members" of Desilets’ team, Bilson wouldn’t say any more. But Joystiq caught up with him after his presentation and pressed the situation in an interview.
Here was Bilson’s response:
"I don’t think I can talk about the other three people we’ve already contracted because I wouldn’t…I just know Patrice said, ‘I need these three guys.’ And I said ‘Okay! Whatever you need!’ We put all of them on retention and got them started on their non-competes [non-compete agreement]. I kind of know what their roles are, but they were the most important people to Patrice. All three of them are Ubi."
That doesn’t mean that Desilets is pulling some sort of coup. Bilson assured that future hires won’t just be from Ubisoft, but also from "people from the community in Montreal and all over the world."
THQ Montreal, Desilets’ studio, will open on May 29 when his non-compete is over.
