Last we heard about the proposed Kane & Lynch film was back in February when Lionsgate scooped up the film rights. Today, on IGN, they have an update saying Lionsgate approved a script from writer Kyle Ward and that the film will begin shooting this fall.
Apparently several A-list actors are interested in the film and IGN knows one, but they couldn’t disclose the information. Curses! Since May, there were two scripts floating around; one from Ward and the other from Jieho Lee (The Air I Breathe) and Bob DeRosa. While Ward’s script has been approved, it’s been rumored that Jieho Lee will be directing the movie.
The movie will follow the events in the game; two men named Kane and Lynch met during en route to Death Row. Stuff goes down and the two escape to enact revenge on Kane’s former employers. I’m assuming many things explode during the process. If there’s an office building shoot-out scene that parallel’s the game’s scene, then I’m sold.
Kane & Lynch: Dead Men will ship this October for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Hitman-developer IO Interactive is developing the game. In the meantime, who do you want to see play Kane or Lynch in the film?
