Moley, moley, mole! No, it’s not Fred Savage, but it is a fairly reliable source. This industry mole claims to know what Sony’s holiday pricing plan is.
First off, Sony is dropping the price of the PlayStation 2 to $99.99. But my first question is, do people still buy those? Seriously though, with your next-gen system out, maybe it’s time to put the relic away and focus on the future. But in spite of this, the user base for PS2s continues to grow. Go figure.
According to mole man, the 80 GB PS3 will go for $499.99, while the 40GB PS3 will be $399.99. $100 for 40 Gigs? Sounds like a step in the right direction to me. A $400 dollar PS3 might just get me, and so many others to take a gander at what Sony has to offer.
As more "incentive," the rumor continues, a blue ray Spider Man 3 will be packaged with one or both of the systems. Wow, that would be great if Spider-Man 3 wasn’t atrocious. Come on Sony, you can’t pair your product with that piece of crap. Let’s hope your PS3 doesn’t let us down like Spider-Man 3 did.
In the meantime, let’s hold our collective breaths to see if these rumors pan out.
