After viewing this video people will realize just how big of a visionary Carmack is to this industry. The guy is already talking about PlayStation 4s, sixteen core PCs, and jokingly Xbox 720s and how he wants to apply his ambitions to them. Gaming companies will no doubt adopt the id Tech 5 engine because it is a beast. It is capable of handling 20GB or more texture data, is completely cross-platform, and can produce texture files at 128000×128000 pixel resolution.
