id and EA renew support for Mac

appleIDDuring the annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) today, Apple CEO, Steve Jobs, had some unexpected guests drop in. First was id Software co-founder John Carmack, whom showcased the company’s new game technology, dubbed id Tech 5.

The demonstration movie displayed a race track deep in canyons and had a lot of extreme detail. Carmack said, "…What we’ve got here is the entire world with unique textures, 20GB of textures covering this track. They can go in and look at the world and, say, change the color of the mountaintop, or carve their name into the rock. They can change as much as they want on surfaces with no impact on the game."

Carmack ended his brief speech by saying that id will be showing their new game on the Mac, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 at this year’s E3, along with another Mac announcement at E3.
