Mojang, the videogame studio behind Minecraft, recently combined its efforts with the Humble Bundle project to create a game jam appropriately titled Mojam. The live event was streamed for 60 hours and ended up netting a total of $458,243.95.
Mojang was joined by Oxeye Game Studio and Wolfire Games as the three companies raced to create unique titles in a short amount of time. Mojang came up with Catacomb Snatch, an Egyptian-themed shoot ’em up/strategy game that will be added to the latest Humble Indie Bundle.
Wolfire kept the Egyptian theme going with The Broadside Express, a game that has players traveling ancient Egypt as a steam train. Oxeye also contributed its own project, titled Fists of Resistance.
Over 81,000 bundles were purchased during the Mojam, with all proceeds going to Child’s Play, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, charity: water, and the American Red Cross.
