Did you ever wonder how much it costs to run that Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, or even Nintendo Wii?
Well so did Choice, Australia’s largest consumer organization, so they conducted a study that examined the power consumption (and subsequent dollar consumption) of a variety of computer and home entertainment electronics.
What they discovered is that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 are two of the most gluttonous of all devices tested. Only a 42-inch plasma TV can top the 360, and it falls just short of the PS3’s electron monopoly. The lightweight Wii, on the other hand, uses about a tenth the power of the other two consoles.
