Halo 3 soundtrack. A must buy for music lovers

I love videogame soundtracks. Some may scoff at the concept, stating that the majority of videogame music is just plan crap. I’d have to agree. But the same can be said for movies, the music industry, and just about every medium which requires some form of musical art. There is good and there is bad.

The Halo series is one of the good. Marty O’Donnell has crafted, what is probably, the most memorable theme for the past two console generations, and his musical talents haven’t stopped there. With each entry in the Halo franchise Marty has written an awe inspiring score to go along with the tense action.

Halo 3 is no different. So it should make Halo, and music fans smile, to hear that the Halo 3 OST (original sound track) is just a few days away from being released.

While I haven’t been given the pleasure to sample the CD itself, I’ve played Halo 3 enough to give my opinion about Marty’s musical score. Halo 3 is his best yet. This is saying something since, for me, the biggest improvement from Halo to Halo 2 was the music. I couldn’t imagine Marty topping his tracks "Peril" or "Heretic Hero" from Halo 2. For once I’m glad I was wrong.

From the menu screen, to the deserts of The Ark, the new Halo, and flood infested High Charity, the music does wonders in Halo 3. With the new format of the Halo 3 OST (music being played as it is encountered in the game), makes the Halo 3 OST a perfect buy for any fan of the Halo series. Martin O’Donnell and Michael Salvatori have crated quite a masterpiece.

I know I’ll be buying mine on day one. Are you?
