Microsoft has today announced that Halo 2 will in fact see a PC release. This news is rather shocking, as no PC version was ever mentioned when Halo 2 first saw the light of day. Many gamers simply just took in the notion that there would be no PC release. Well, Microsoft struck back today when they mentioned that Halo 2 will be released for the PC exclusively for Microsoft’s new Windows Vista operating system. The game will also be bundled with the multiplayer map pack and a level editor. A release date hasn’t been set in stone yet, but the next Windows operating system is set for release sometime in late July. After all, what better way to promote your new OS then releasing one of the world’s most popular games right alongside it? Here’s a piece of the official press release: "’Halo 2,’ the game that redefined first-person combat and multiplayer action for millions of gamers worldwide, is set to explode onto PCs exclusively for Windows Vista. ‘Halo 2’ for Windows Vista will be developed by a dedicated Microsoft Game Studios team in partnership with Bungie Studios. Only for Windows Vista, ‘Halo 2’ will offer gamers both the single-player campaign and multiplayer experience of the original, as well as the additional maps offered in the ‘Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack.’ Gamers will also have the exciting opportunity to build, create and customise their own multiplayer levels." We’ll keep you up to date as more information becomes available.
