Yesterday, GamerNode reported that although Activision was going to be canceling both the Guitar Hero and DJ Hero franchises, games already released from both series would still continue to have DLC. That information is true, but only until the end of the month.
An FAQ on the DJ Hero website discussing the axing of both it and the Guitar Hero line of titles has stated that DLC for both won’t go beyond February.
"We will release the previously announced DLC track and mix packs for February, but – unfortunately – we will not be able to release new DLC packs beyond what we already have," read the FAQ.
However, all DLC that has already been released will still continue to be supported and games will still be sold in retail. At least for now.
The answer and question asking it in the FAQ was actually posted twice, apparently as a way to emphasize the truth in them. Also asked twice was whether or not this was the ultimate end for Guitar Hero and DJ Hero.
"Over the past two years, we have seen rapid declines in the music genre, and unfortunately, based on current demand, we simply cannot continue to profitably make these games given the considerable licensing and manufacturing costs," the FAQ responded.
