There™s a saying in rock bands that goes, Everybody wants to be the drummer. If we could take that little phrase and adapt it to the game world, we™d say, Everybody wants to make video games. Several weeks ago, it was reported by GamerNode that the game accessory company, MadCatz, was entering the video game publishing business. As strange as this may have sounded at the time, another unlikely group is planning on making video games”CMT. Doesn™t sound familiar? CMT stands for Country Music Television. Now before you go off with visions of Gretchen Wilson in a Tomb Raider outfit, the CMT music network is planning on producing a music game. In particular, CMT Presents: Karaoke Revolution Country, according to a story filed by BillboardBiz. The joint venture between Konami and CMT will produce the world™s first country music game and will feature 35 hit songs which will include 9 to 5, Redneck Woman, Friends in Low Places, Boot Scootin™ Boogie, and the country music classic, Crazy. CMT is totally serious about the venture and will be backing its product with on air advertising, online coverage and a sweepstakes contest. The title is scheduled for release on March 28th and will be available for the PS2. Maybe you won™t ever make the stage of the Grand Ole Opry, but the next best thing might be singing on CMT™s new video game.
