Grand Theft Auto V now has an official release date, that’s the good news. The bad news is that it’s September 17, which is a delay from the game’s initial spring 2013 window.
Rockstar Games accompanied the announcement with the above image and a link to a post on the company’s newswire regarding the release date, which included an apology to the community for the delay. Rockstar acknowledged that the delay comes as a disappointment and claimed that GTA V needed more time so it could be polished to the standards they and the fans require.
“To all Grand Theft Auto fans, please accept our apologies for the delay, and our promise that the entire team here is working very hard to make the game all it can be,” read the post. “We are doing all we can to help ensure it will meet if not exceed your expectations come September – we thank you for your support and patience.”
Meanwhile, Rockstar Games Founder Sam Houser was excited for the game’s new release as well as information that the company will be giving fans on the game in the future.
“Grand Theft Auto V continues to push the series forward in new ways; Rockstar North are creating our deepest, most beautiful and most immersive world yet,” said Houser. “We are very excited for people to learn more about the game in the coming months.”
Grand Theft Auto V will release for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Be sure to give us your thoughts on the new release date in the comments below.
No worries. As long as it isn’t canceled, that’s cool.
