Groove Games Creates Bedlam Studios

International publisher Groove Games has announced the formation of a brand new studio called Bedlam. The Toronto-based studio will focus on next-generation platforms and will be "dedicated to the development of triple-A games based on original intellectual property".

The new studio is comprised of industry veterans. Former employees of Electronic Arts, Ubisoft and Rockstar will bring a wealth of experience to Bedlam. Employees of Bedlam have worked on such titles as Silent Hill, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Manhunt, and The Warriors.

"At Bedlam, we promote creativity and empower our employees to take daring new strides when designing games. The growing team brings triple-A development experience to the table, and we look forward to releasing details about our first project shortly," said Zandro Chan, Director of Game Development for Bedlam.

The team is currently staffed with about 25 people but is adding more and more everyday. According to Chan, it is the employees that will determine the success of Bedlam. "One of the main goals of Bedlam, aside from making great games (which is what everyone says anyway), is to invest in its people."

Groove Games is best known for the first-person shooter Pariah and Playboy: The Mansion.
