Ghostbusters video game gets sequel

Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime

Atari and Sony are working together to bring a sequel to Ghostbusters: The Video Game next year. The catch? It will be a small scale downloadable title available on the PC, PlayStation Network, and Xbox Live.

Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime will feature four-player co-op that supports both local and online play, with a focus on large bosses that will require teamwork to defeat. Also included are Ghostbusters familiars like the proton stream and plasma inductor. 2009’s Ghostbusters: The Video Game had the help of principal cast members from the film such as Bill Murray and Dan Ackroyd, but there are no plans at this point for any of the actors to appear in the sequel. The title is being worked on by downloadable game developer Wanako Studios and is set to come out in spring 2011.

My first experience playing a video game blew me away. The fact that Super Metroid was that game certainly helped. So I like to think Samus put me on the path to video games. Well, I guess my parents buying the SNES had a little something to do with it. Ever since then my passion for video games has grown. When I found that I could put words together into a coherent sentence, videogame journalism was a natural interest. Now I spend a large majority of my time either playing video games or writing about them, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
