GameTap, a broadband online gaming service owned by Turner Broadcasting, has signed a deal with computer peripheral maker, Logitech, for added value promotions. Logitech will offer customers, who buy their game controllers or game accessories, a free two-week trial to the GameTap service. If the trial membership is converted into a full membership by the customer, a price discount is given on the first three months of paid service. This partnership between Logitech and GameTap appears to be a win-win situation: Logitech increases sales of their product, and GameTap gets access to potential subscribers to their game subscription service. GameTap™s general manager, Stuart Snyder, said of the cooperative venture, GameTap works great with mouse and keyboard, however, we know for many that using a controller enhances the game play by replicating the original experience. Since we want to offer our subscribers the ultimate gaming experience, it was important that we partner with a company that has consistently led the technology industry in innovation and product design, especially with USB controller – Logitech fits that bill." At present, the GameTap service offers close to 500 game titles from over 25 different game publishers. The titles in their library offer many classic retro games and recent games as well.
