Buy a new Xbox 360 and get Halo 3 free, sounds like a deal made in heaven, right? Unfortunately, the deal is too good to be true because Microsoft updated the offer’s web page with some new required criteria.
While you still have to buy a new Xbox 360 between November 21st and December 21st, you have to have an existing paid Xbox Live subscription on the original Xbox console, not the Xbox 360. In nice big and bold font, the offer states the following:
"Original Xbox console users: Buy an Xbox 360. Migrate your paid Xbox LIVE subscription (for the original Xbox console) to Xbox LIVE Gold.
As a current paid Xbox LIVE member using an original Xbox console (not Xbox 360), you’re more than ready for Halo 3, and here’s a great reason to step up. Buy your Xbox 360 between November 21 and December 21, 2007, move your existing paid Xbox LIVE account to an Xbox LIVE Gold subscription and then register on this site, and we will send you a copy of Halo 3*. Finish the fight in high definition, with new weapons and challenges."
The asterisk notes the Xbox Live subscription on the Xbox detail, so this is a perfect example on why you should clarify statements before posting them.
