Fox News recently published an article addressing the sexual content of Duke Nukem Forever and its damaging effects on women.
In the article, the news outlet called the Gearbox Studios game "awfully sexist" and claimed it "takes sexism to a whole new level" as it starts by showing Duke and his Nukem being pleasured by twins in schoolgirl outfits.
And if that wasn’t enough, the real coup de grâce comes in the form of a new mode that "requires" players to abduct and slap women.
The article is referencing the "Capture the Babe" multiplayer mode, which has players seek out women and attempt to carry them to safety. However, if a babe begins to cause problems during the saving process, players have the option of slapping her "on the booty," according to Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford.
But Fox News pressed the issue, interviewing Women’s Media Concern vice president Jamia Wilson.
"It was offensive then and it’s even more offensive now," Wilson said in the article. "These depictions of women are extremely harmful, especially to young women."
Last week, Gearbox announced that DNF would be delayed yet again from its original May 3 release date until June 14, at which it will be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
