Fox and Microsoft reported to be working on Xbox TV

Fox and Microsoft are looking to make Xbox TV.

According to a recent report from Bloomberg, former News Corp. president Peter Chernin is in discussion with Microsoft about creating an Xbox TV channel specifically for Xbox Live members.

The channel would not just be aimed at Xbox Live members, but exclusively for Xbox Live Gold members. At an April 12 meeting, according to "two people with knowledge of the proposal", Chernin suggested adding $1 to $2 to the Xbox Live monthly fee to add programming aimed at the younger, male-centered audience of the service. Chernin is currently a film and television producer at Fox, which is owned by News Corp.

According to one of the report’s informants, the channel would offer both reruns and original programming. Microsoft is yet to respond to the proposal.

"Peter is talking to lots of people about lots of ideas in the digital space," said Allan Mayer, his publicist. Mayer refused to comment about the discussions with Microsoft.
