Former EA GM joins with Microsoft

ealogoLast November, EA closed its Chicago studio due to its lack of profitability following a string of poorly-received games. While some of the studio’s employees ended up finding work within EA’s massive conglomerate, one notable employee jumped ship and, arguably, joined one of EA’s top rivals.

GameTap is reporting that EA Chicago’s former general manager, Kudo Tsunoda, jumped from EA’s ship and joined Microsoft, specifically within their Xbox division. Tsunoda will feel right at home since he’ll join another EA employee (heck, the former president!), Don Mattrick, who currently runs Microsoft’s Xbox division.

The report ends with an extremely brief statement about how Tsunoda might head up a Gears of War-related sequel title. "…say sources–who also say Tsunoda is project lead on an upcoming Gears of War title."

Noting that Gears of War literally printed money, it would be a no brainer that Microsoft is planning follow-up games, possibly ones that expand to other genres or other parts of the Gears universe.
